App for driver - tips for taking card payments on the bus
These tips have been produced for operators that accept card payments on the bus. More information can be found by visiting the stripe website or PCI Security Standards Council website.
Never accept a card if:
- The card is not recognised by the pax device installed on the bus.
- The card expiry date has passed.
- The card or the signature has been visibly altered or tampered with.
- The card is damaged.
If any of these occur, ask the customer for another form of payment.
You should also:
- Never record the card number or other card details in any form or system other than the specific screens in the Transportme™ app.
- Never ask a customer to reveal their PIN.
- Never allow a customer to enter their PIN or tap their contactless card until the transaction amount is displayed on the screen, and if required, they are prompted to enter their PIN.
If a transaction is ‘declined’, ask for an alternate form of payment.
Protecting your pax device on the bus:
- When unattended ensure the vehicle is locked.
- Do not disclose the pax device or Transportme™ driver application password to anyone.
- If the pax device is damaged or could have been tampered with, seek further guidance from Transportme™ before processing further payments.
