Preventative maintenance activities
Service provider responsibilities for Queensland School Ticketing only
In accordance with the Prescribed School Service Contract (PSSC), it is the responsibility of the service provider (operator) to take all reasonable steps to protect, preserve and secure the onboard equipment and keep it in good repair.
To assist in keeping the onboard equipment in good repair, service providers should undertake simple and regular preventative maintenance activities. Should further maintenance of the onboard equipment be required, the service provider should
lodge a support ticket via the Operator Portal.
Service providers should
only undertake maintenance within the preventative maintenance activities outlined.
Preventative maintenance activities:
Cool -
The iPad is designed to work in ambient temperatures between 0° and 35° C and be stored in temperatures between -20° and 45° C. If the temperature in the vehicle is outside the 0° - 35° C range when not in use, we recommend removing the iPad and any other equipment such as the Pax A920 or smartcard reader from the vehicle and storing it in a cool place.
Cover - To protect from heat and dust, you may like to consider covering your onboard equipment. This may also assist with security if the onboard equipment is on display.
Clean -
To clean your onboard equipment, first unplug and power off. Use a slightly dampened, lint-free cloth to wipe the equipment clean. Never spray any cleaning product directly onto the equipment, and avoid getting moisture in openings. Don't use window cleaners, household cleaning products, compressed air, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, abrasives, or cleaning products that contain hydrogen peroxide.
Connection ports/sockets -
Never force a connector into a port or apply excessive pressure to a button because this may cause damage not covered under warranty. Avoid pushing buttons on any touch screen with the tip of a pen, a corner of a credit card, or even with sharp fingernails.
Cables - Check cables frequently for fraying or breaking. Aim for gentle curves instead of angles in the cable. If damaged,
submit a purchase request for a replacement.
Pax A920 reader -
Never insert anything but a credit card in or through the Pax A920 reader.
Onboard equipment and RAM mount -
The safety of the onboard equipment in the event of a crash depends on the installed equipment’s integrity. Ensure that the RAM mount(s), case, and components, such as sunshade and cradle for either the Pax A920 or smartcard reader, remain secure.
Due to the nature of day-to-day operations, it might be necessary to re-tighten the onboard equipment, which can be easily done by adjusting the manual arm on the RAM mount and/or the screws/bolts for the different components.
If you need to tighten any screws/bolts, you must use the following torque settings:
- iPad case (including sunshade and cradle) – 1.5Nm
- RAM mount – 6Nm
Do not overtighten any of the screws/bolts, as this can cause damage that may result in the need for equipment to be replaced.
Regularly check for signs of damage, for example, breaks in the plastic or sharp edges. If damaged,
submit a purchase request for a replacement.
Check that the lock holding in the iPad is in working order and has not been damaged, making it possible to remove the iPad without using the provided key.
