Post holiday checks

After an extended period of not using your equipment, for example following a school holiday, it is good practice to check it is functioning and your staff have not forgotten their username and/or password.

To check your equipment, follow the below steps:

  1. Firstly ensure the equipment has access to power, which might require you to turn on the vehicle's ignition.
  2. Ensure the power cables are plugged in and switch on the iPad and the A920 Pax device (if installed). Note, if the batteries of these devices are completely flat, you will need to wait several minutes before you are able to switch them on.
  3. Once switched on, check the iPad and A920 Pax device (if installed) both have a cellular data connection.
  4. Ensure the A920 Pax device (if installed) has a printer receipt roll and consider ordering additional rolls if your stock is low (How to order Pax A920 printer receipt rolls).

iPad and A920 Pax device:

  1. Once the equipment is switched on, login to the Driver or QLDSchoolBus app on the iPad ( you will need a user account to be able to login).

  2. Enter the Bus ID and check off the fit4 work check.

  3. Complete the pre-departure checks.

  4. Select “finish” on the bus damage screen.

  5.  Select “finish” on the fault message screen.

  6. Select a route category, then select a route, and finally select “done” on driver dashboard screen.

  7. Check ALL the green Bluetooth ticks have appeared for the equipment supplied at the bottom of the transaction screen.

  8. Select the “end route tab”.

  9. Retrieve and enter the pin code from the pin code generator and select “end completed route”.

  10. Select the log out button.

  11. Select “finish” on the bus damage screen.

  12. Select “finish” on the fault message, which will return you to the log in screen.

If you were able to successfully complete steps 7 and 9 above, the equipment is paired and ready to be used. If you had issues with either of the steps, first refer to the following knowledge base articles:

Pin code generator (if installed):

The pin code generator is hardwired and will switch on automatically when it has power. To check it has power follow the below instructions.

  1. When the pin code generate turns on, check the words “QLD pin code generator” appear on the display followed by the device serial number. The screen will then go blank, however the LCD backlight will remain on.
