Create a route

create a route order by creating stops creating tickets creating route category if needed and creating route screenshot
  • Login to Transportme™ or QST or TfNSW operator portal. 
  • Select on Routes on the top menu. 
  • Select on Routes on the left menu. 
  • Select + New Route or Add New Route button to open Add Route screen.
  • Fill in route data and select Save button to create the new route. 

ROUTE DETAILS

Note: Depending on the set up of your operator, some details may not be available. 

Select Route Category Select the drop down box to choose what route category you want the route associated to. 
Select transaction screen type To define how the transaction screen is displayed on the driver app. 
This information can be edited later by changing the value of Passenger List Type on Route Edit screen under the General Information section. 
The options shown in the dropdown list accordingly to the setting of your operator. Different types of transaction screen: 
  • Default: the screen will allow the driver to select passenger type/ticket type and destination to sell a ticket or smartcard holder can tap on/off the smartcard on the bus.

  • ESM List - AM or ESM List - PM: the trip screen shows a list of passengers who board or de-board at a stop and the driver taps on their name to mark them boarded or de-boarded.

  • Smartcard Manifest: the trip screen shows a list of smartcard holders who board or de-board at a stop using their smartcards. More information about this type of route can be found here

Route Name Enter the name that will be shown on the driver app when a driver selects the route. This will also be what your passengers will look for when tracking your bus via the ‘transportme™ passenger’ app.
Route Description for Reporting To use for reporting purpose. 
Number of Sections Enter or pick up the number of sections for the route (for ticket selling) via the drop down box. Note: the number of sections of the price per section ticket type (if any) has to be greater than this number of sections of the route.
Contract Contracts first need to be created in Settings > Reference Data click here to see how to create a contract number.
For QST operators, add the ‘contracted route number’ to this field. You can obtain this from your contract schedule. For example, P626. Only include the route number and no other formatting or information. If you have a charter not associated with school bus service delivery this can be labelled as Charter.
For Rural and Regional NSW operators, contract value will be displayed in ODIN reports where they are available.
Departing Stop Choose the departing stop – i.e. where the bus will leave from.
Popular Stop Check this to make the Departing Stop shown on the Driver app by default.
Departing Zone To select the departing zone. Note: this option is only available if your operator paid for zone module. 
Sign On Time This is the time the route should be started from the Driver app.
Departing Time This is what time the route departs from the allocated Departing Stop. Enter this in 24hr time format.
Planned Timetabled Trips Per Day Enter in how many trips that this route performs in a day.
MidPoint Only check this if you wish this Departing Stop to be your midpoint. The stop you choose as your midpoint (if you want to report the on time running) should be one that you are extremely confident the bus will arrive at within the >1 min early and > 5 mins late requirements.
Route Name/Number This will be reflected in reporting eg OR2 report.
Planned Kms This is the total kms (including dead running) that the route performs.  This will be reflected in reporting eg OR2 report.
Route Type This can be left without choosing. Alternatively, for reporting purposes, you can choose either ‘Dedicated School Route’ or ‘Planned Timetabled Route’ or 'Regional Refresh'.  This will be reflected in reporting.
Dead Running Kms This number is the kms from your starting point to where you make your first official pick up + the kms from your last official drop off back to the end point.  This will be reflected in reporting.
Trips Per Day Define how many trips per days in different time frame as:
  • M-F Term
  • M-F Hols 
  • Sat 
  • Sun 
  • Public Holiday.
Speed Limit Enter in a speed limit (km/h) for the route. This will then create an alert on the Operator Portal's Overspeed Log if the bus travels greater than this set speed limit. You can find this overspeed log in GPS Tracking menu.
Use Sections Travel Chart Check the box if you wish to sell tickets via section bands through the section chart.
Print out end of route report Check the box if you want to the end of route printout to occur for this route.
Use Zone Ability This option is available when your operator paid for Zone Ticket Ability module. If the option is selected, the driver app will only show tickets that belong to current zone. 
PAX Count Ability  This option works together with Bus Loading module to show or hide the ability to add or deduct the number of passenger on the bus using the button + or -. 
Trackable in Passenger App Check the box if you want your route to be tracked in the transportme™ passenger app or Travel2School app. It should always be checked to ensure that the route can be tracked in the app.
Enabled on Public Tracking Page Check the box to if you want to show the route on Public View page.  This feature is only available if your company paid for Public View module.
On Time Running Check the box if you wish this route to have the ability to be used for reporting such as On Time Reporting and it will show on time status on the trip screen of the Driver app such as green - it's time to depart or red - it's still early. 
Timetabled Accessible Service Check the box if you want this route is a timetabled service.
Deboarding Alert Check to allow the Driver app to play alert sound when there are any deboarding at a stop.
Late Sign On Alert Check to allow to send alert to related contact if the route has not signed on according to Sign On Time.
Clear Of Bus Check Check if this route requires the driver to check and confirm the bus is clear by entering the pin number from a device at the end of the vehicle. More information can be found here
Pax App show pax count Check the box if you want the Passenger App show the bus loading of this route.
Ticket Format To define the layout of end of route and end of shift printout of the driver app. The main difference between TME and V/line format is the orientation of data. TME format is portrait while V/line is landscape. 
Ticket Type Select what ticket types you want to sell on the route.
