Step 4 Replacement Pax A920 - Bluetooth pairing and Testing


For- Queensland School Ticketing (QST) / Rural and Regional (R&R) TfNSW operators and Transportme private operators:


If a device needs to be removed or installed in its cradle, please hold the device and cradle unit before removing or installing the device or before loosening to adjust the RAM mount .This will prevent the cradle falling suddenly and damaging the hardware.

You will need the following equipment (the equipment required for testing will not be the same for all operators)

  • A smartcard,  a blank card from your spares - to test smartcard tap - (for operators that have smartcard feature)
  • A credit card- to test cashless ticket sale and refund- (for operators that have cashless feature)
  • Driver login details to allow access to the driver application on the iPad
  • The replacement Pax A920 device
  • Paper roll in the replacement Pax A920
  • Take the replacement Pax A920 to the assigned vehicle and carefully place in it cradle

When the replacement Pax A920 is in the assigned vehicle- 

  1. Confirm the power cable is inserted correctly in the device and power source
  2. Turn the device on
  3. Login to the driver application on the iPad
  4. Take note of the serial number on the rear of the Pax A920 as you will need to know this when Bluetooth pairing How to find the serial number on the Pax A920
  5. Bluetooth pair the replacement Pax A920 to the iPad. How to Bluetooth pair the Pax A920
  6. Open a route on the driver app that uses passenger tickets.
  7. Confirm the “green tick” for successful Bluetooth connection in the transaction screen. Confirm Pax A920 Bluetooth connection
  8. (if using smartcards) Tap the blank smartcard and listen for an audio prompt from the iPad. The iPad (if logged into a route) will give a message depending on the card. eg 'invalid card' for a card that's not in the system (blank card) and a similar message for a card that is not authorised to travel on the route that's logged in.   9. (if using printed tickets) Sell a passenger ticket, i.e. adult and select destination in the route, select sell and print. A printed ticket should come out of the Pax A920.  This is a successful ticket sale.
  10. (if using cashless ticketing) Sell a passenger ticket, i.e. adult and select a destination in the route, select tap and pay

11. Refund transaction refund cashless ticket purchase

  12. Log out of the driver application
